December 3rd 2018.
A seasonal and very traditional French song, sung by British singer Annie Lennox, from her 2010 album - 'A Christmas Cornucopia'. The song dates from the 1860s so would have been well established during the 1940s etc. It is still sung today.... It reminds me much of our 'Away in a manger' as it do often sung by little choirs of children.

In the above document I have highlighted the letter 'e' from time to time.
This is because in French poetry and song lyrics, there is a tendency by some to overpronounce this letter. Something very French in their poetry and song. This letter is not nomally stressed in everyday speech. In the recordings I made I have stressed the 'e' as one would when reading the song lyrics...

Edith Piaf - Mon Légionnaire (1942)
