Although it will vary the main level of this class will be working towards the European Language Levels of B1 to C1. This is the equivalent of the minimum level required to apply for French citizenship (B1).

The college usually advertises the courses for continuation of your studies towards the end of the current term once more in April.
The next course (in the same vein as this course) will not be a repeat of things we have done before, although it is likely we will look at cultural events and many grammar points you may already have covered (depending on the make up of the class), but the themes will be different.
The courses for Summer are now online These summer courses last for 8 weeks instead of 10.

To help improve your listening and tune your ear to the sound of the language, you can use the many resources provided on the internet. There are a lot of free to air radio stations out there and this website helps you tune in to the free stations...
It is widely expected that you should be familiar with and have mastered the ins and outs of French Grammar (We spend a lot of time in the Improvers Class on this very thing).
However, we will look at grammar as and when it comes up as an issue in this class.

Last week you were given a double sided sheet, we may look at the song whose missing lyrics are printed on side two of the sheet you were issued last week.
The video for the song is below (at the end of Jan 10th resources). It has a lot of verbs in different tenses in its lyrics, ideal for revising and consolidating verb formation.
If you have prepared to talk about your favourite book, we will spend some time looking at those. If you can give me anything to look at during the week, it will better prepare future grammar studies.

In the first lesson, we will look at what motivates you to improve your French, why you have signed up and what you are looking to get from the class (so I can best prepare the next 9 weeks!) It is also the way we can get to know each other (for any people who were not in this class before).
It would be useful if you can think of a few general themes and topics you would like to study. In particular any grammatical features you feel you need to improve on. I will otherwise choose various topics and items I find in my perusal of the Francophone internet and news.
